Mr. Sathish Srinivasan is the joint Clinical Director for the Ophthalmology Service, and Consultant Corneal Surgeon at University Hospital Ayr, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, Scotland.
His expertise lie in the field of micro-incision cataract surgery, complex cataract surgery, medical and surgical diseases of the cornea, ocular surface and anterior segment reconstruction and LASIK laser refractive surgery. Alongside this he has a keen interest in advanced corneal transplantation techniques including partial corneal transplants and iris reconstruction.
Following his higher surgical training in Ophthalmology at St. Paul’s Eye Unit, Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Liverpool, Mr. Srinivasan completed a two year clinical fellowship in Cornea, External eye diseases and Refractive Surgery at the Toronto Western Hospital, Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada from 2005 to 2007.
Through his training and research, Mr. Srinivasan has authored over 85 Scientific Papers in peer-reviewed international ophthalmology journals. In addition to this, he regularly presents scientific papers at international ophthalmology meetings. In recognition of his work, Mr. Srinivasan has been presented with the International Ophthalmologist Education Award, the Achievement Award, and the International Scholar Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
Mr. Srinivasan has a passion for teaching and training; he currently serves as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer with the Faculty of Medicine in the University of Glasgow, Scotland. He serves as an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Scotland. Furthermore, he often provides teaching in surgical techniques for junior doctors within the National Health Service. He also serves as a member of the teaching faculty at major international professional meetings including the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the United Kingdom & Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS), and United Kingdom & Ireland Society of Ophthalmic Professionals (UKISOP).
He is currently the European Associate Editor of the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, which is a joint publication of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He also serves as International advisory board member for Eurotimes and the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology.
