Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) with an iSent procedure is a new type of MIGS surgical procedure that has been shown to be effective in controlling / reducing the eye pressure in patients with glaucoma and minimising the need for eye drops.
iStent inject® works like the stents used to prevent heart attacks and strokes. When vessels get clogged, a stent opens them up to increase the flow of fluid. This stent is made of medical grade titanium and is designed to create a permanent channel through the primary blockage site (trabecular meshwork) to restore the eye’s natural outflow. Restoring this natural outflow can lower and control pressure within the eye. (Figure 3)
